Pipe Core to launch Picote Flexi-Sliplining

Starting in the next financial year, Pipe Core will exclusively introduce Picote Flexi-Sliplining as part of its relining product portfolio.

This innovative technology from Picote Solutions offers a cost-effective, efficient, and fully trenchless method for rehabilitating old or damaged DN100–DN300 gravity sewers, via existing manholes and without the need for bypass pumping.

Picote Solutions senior director Dawn Greig said the sliplining process takes the process of renovating gravity sewers to a new, fully trenchless level.

“Offering a simple and efficient way to rehabilitate problem pipes with a small worksite and carbon footprint… We are delighted to work with our partner Pipe Core to exclusively offer this innovative system to the Australian market,” he said.

In May of this year Pipe Core chief executive Jason Marshall travelled to Finland to see the technology in action.

Reflecting on the visit, he said the transformative potential of Picote Flexi-Sliplining for customers tackling gravity sewer renewal projects.

“At Pipe Core, we’re always looking for innovative trenchless solutions like Picote Flexi-Sliplining – smarter, faster, and more efficient for our customers,” he said.

Developed by Picote Solutions, the Flexi-Sliplining system provides a straightforward approach to renovating house connections and main sewer lines without excavation.

The system uses Flexirohr pipe, which is manufactured in Germany. This three-layered, self-supporting PE Flexi-Pipe is DIBt-certified for durability and reliability.

The flexible inner layer eliminates the need for a traditional lead-in trench. Installation is done by connecting the liner pipe to a winch cable and pulling it through the host pipe at speeds of up to eight metres per minute.

A key advantage of the system is its simplicity: installation can be carried out by a two-person crew with minimal training, delivered locally at Pipe Core’s official training centre for Picote Solutions.

Flexi-Sliplining significantly streamlines sewer rehabilitation. Pipe sections are assembled onsite, reducing the environmental impact and lowering project costs.

This technology has already proven its value in complex environments — including pipe replacement under rivers, canals, and other waterways — as well as in railway drainage systems, public parks, and sites of special scientific interest (SSSI).

Flexi-Pipe is available in 50m coils or 6m segments, depending on project needs, and is welded onsite using Picote’s proprietary welding system.

Since its introduction in 2016, over 80km of Flexi-Pipe have been installed across Europe and South America. It has been rigorously tested by WRc (in accordance with WIS 4-35-01:2008 Appendix B) to withstand high-pressure water jetting up to 180 bar, ensuring long-term performance.
